Today your Beijing exploration will begin with the famous landmark Tiananmen Square. The Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and can hold over one million people. With its historical significance, it is is often considered as a national symbol in China.

Next we will proceed to the Forbidden City. It is the best-preserved imperial palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world. With the magnificence of royal architectures and imperial treasures, Forbidden City is a must-visit attraction in Beijing.

After lunch, we will go to Niujie Mosque to do prayers. As the largest and oldest mosque in Beijing, Niujie Mosque is a must-visit mosque for Muslims. Its grand size of architectures with a mixture of Islamic and traditional Chinese culture has made it outstanding among mosques in Beijing. Then we will visit Muslim Supermarket, the largest Muslim supermarket in Beijing selling various kinds of Muslim food and Muslim featured products. 

Next scheduled activity is a rickshaw ride at Hutongs. Hutongs are alleys formed by lines of Siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences. As an important cultural element of old Beijing, Hutongs are great choices for people to get to know Beijing local history and culture.

After that we will go to Yandaixiejie to get a deeper understanding of ancient Beijing culture. Yandaixiejie is a famous ancient street in Beijing. There are numerous stores and shops lining on both sides of the street selling various kinds of antiques and souvenirs.

At last, we will have a stop at Tongrentang. The Tongrentang is a famous pharmacy’s store selling various kinds of traditional Chinese medicines.

After dinner, our guide will take you back to the hotel for a good rest.

Next we will have a stop at Beijing Olympic Green. There you will appreciate several unique and stunning architectures including Bird’s Nest, Water Cube, Ling Long Pagoda and so on.

The last stop for today will be Wangfujing Walking Street, where you can have a feast for various kinds of delicious local Beijing snacks and specialties, and also find interesting souvenirs and gifts at the numerous shops there.

This morning, our guide will transfer you to appreciate the enchanting Heavenly Lake at first. Heavenly Lake is a famous scenic spot in Xinjiang. After that we will move to visit Tartar Mosque. Urumqi Tartar Mosque is one of the main mosques in Xinjiang. It is located in the southern end of Jiefang Road. Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, the Tartar Mosque is able to hold one thousand people doing prayers with its four prayer halls. The constructions of Tartar Mosque is characterized with typical Asiatic style with spacious corridors in the opposite and both sides of the main hall, and an exquisite minaret built on the top center of the building. Now the Tartar Mosque is a main religious activity center for local Muslims of Uighur, Kazakhstan, Tartar, Uzbek and other ethnic groups.

Today our sightseeing will start with a visit to the famous Id Kah Mosque. Id Kah Mosque is located on the central square of Kashgar city. It is one of the biggest mosques in China. The whole complex consists of the courtyard, the Hall of Prayer, and the gate tower and some other attached structures. The Id Kah is a large center for religious activities for Xinjiang Muslims.

Next we will proceed to visit Afaq Khoja Mausoleum. Afaq Khoja Mausoleum is located in Haohan Village which is about 5 kilometers northeast from the center of Kashgar City. The mausoleum was first built in 1640. It is the tombs for seven decades family members from the Afaq family. While this mausoleum is also known as Xiangfei’s tomb, aka the “Fragrant Concubine”, as Xiangfei’s remains was buried here. She was the granddaughter of Afaq Khoja and was forced into a marriage with the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianong. The Afaq Khoja Mausoleum is constructed to stand peacefully in the midst of poplars and pines. This mausoleum is outstandingly featured with delicate and exquisite Islamic style. Consisted of the Tomb’s Hall, the Doctrine Teaching Hall, the Grand Mosque and the Gate Tower, this elegant and magnificent complex attracts tourists here for the appreciation of its buildings. The Grand Mosque here is a popular place for Muslims doing prayers and other activities on important days.

The next destination will be Suleiman Minaret. The Suleiman Minaret is also known as Sugong Tower. It is located 2 kilometers east of Turpan. The tower was built in 1778 and now has a long history. Sugong Tower is the largest ancient tower in Xinjiang. The tower was constructed with steel-grey bricks into the unique Islamic style, also its construction has blended the excellent traditional architectural art of Uighur. Now the Sugong Tower is a popular tourist attraction for tourists, especially for Muslim tourists because of its noted architecture of Islamic art and being the only Islamic architectural tower in China.

Gaochang Ruins will be the last destination to visit today. The Gaochang Ruins is located at the foot of Flaming Mountain, about 45 kilometers away from Turpan. Gaochang city was first built about 2,000 years ago and was served as an important commercial and cultural center on the northern edge of the Silk Road. Undergone from prosperity to war destruction and acid weather conditions, the current Gaochang Ruins we see still stands among the Gobi desert like a shining spectacular stone. The Gaochang Ruins is consisted of an outer city and inner city with several gates, walls and ruins of temples. As a witness of the greatness and glory of Turpand and Silk Road, now Gaochang Ruins is a popular site in Turpan to learn more about the history and culture for this area and to admire the stark beauty of the ruined ancient city.

Turpan - Dunhuang
